The University of Calgary Consulting Association (UCCA), formerly known as the Haskayne Consulting Club (HCC), was founded in the summer of 2016 by a group of ambitious students passionate about providing real-life consulting experience to University of Calgary students. The founders of UCCA, recognizing a need for more student opportunities to gain knowledge and experience in consulting, began providing members networking opportunities with various consulting firms through case interview workshops, events, and competitions to unlock student potential. Since its inception, many UCCA alumni have pursued full-time careers in consulting across various firms.
UCCA has had over 1000 members across all faculties and various partnerships with consulting firms. Our members participate in pro bono consulting engagements and internships with local businesses and non-profit organizations, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge and accelerate their careers. As consulting is multidisciplinary, UCCA strives to provide opportunities for members of all backgrounds. With a new slate of events for STEM and Arts students, UCCA aims to present innovative initiatives for years to come.
“Over the years, HCC (now UCCA) has changed dramatically, growing from a 7-person club, to an ambitious group of University of Calgary students totaling in the hundreds. However, what hasn’t changed is HCC’s prime mandate to afford practical consulting career experience to students of all majors. Through its various student offerings, HCC has positively influenced countless students, myself included; I am confident that HCC will continue to do so for future generations.”
Jarod Tsang, Consultant at Deloitte and former UCCA President
